We are organized in chapters to address discovery and specific customer area needs. We use the OneRoche approach to rapidly deliver innovation and more importantly, doing what the patient needs next.The Opportunity
You will be joining a team of passionate scientists and engineers within the Research and Early Development chapter area in the broader Roche Diagnostic organization to drive the discovery and development of innovative solutions that have real impact on people's lives. The Senior Scientist brings technical depth and breadth, curiosity, and creativity to be an important contributor in developing novel molecular diagnostic applications at the point-of-care. Collaborating with a team with unique backgrounds, you will work hands-on in the laboratory through all research and early development phases, from exploratory research to prototype transfer.Designs, plans and implements experiments applying established and innovative procedures, and applying scientific knowledge and accumulated experience to complete projects.
Contributes to the definition and timely achievement of overall project goals, and resolves scientific problems encountered during experimental procedures to improve productivity of results.
Ensures activities are consistent with project critical path, and responds appropriately to changing priorities.
Accurately and consistently records experimental methods, materials and results in electronic laboratory notebooks.
Analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions and implements/documents process improvements.
Integrates previous and current results to determine next experimental steps and the impact of long-range project goals.
Presents findings at group or departmental meetings. Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents. May assist in preparing summaries, memos, internal reports, presentations, manuscripts, etc.
Work involves troubleshooting and resolving difficult problems in creative ways. Takes a new perspective on existing solutions, exploring and implementing new concepts and methodologies.
Who You Are
Ph.D./Master's/Bachelor's in life sciences, chemical sciences, or related scientific field with 0/5/7+ years relevant industry experience.
Hands-on work in the laboratory to execute experimental designs/studies is required.
Experience with molecular point-of-care IVD assay development including but not limited to sample preparation, sample enrichment, assay chemistry optimization, assay workflow, and instrumentation is highly preferred.
Proficiency with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, or isothermal-based nucleic acid amplification.
Preferred:Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication skills and strong data analysis skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and cross-functional team.
Good work ethics with a 'can-do' mentality and interest in approaching challenging questions with attention to details and independent, critical thinking.
Able to grasp new concepts quickly, and appreciate the learning by doing philosophy.
Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Pleasanton, CA is $75,600 - $140,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
