Write compelling, succinct, clear news scripts under tight deadlines for broadcast and digital platformsWrite content according to station policies, editorial style and rundownResearch and evaluate news stories and sourcesVideo editing of content for news broadcasts using Edius/Grass Valley systemAssist in the producing of news segments and breaking news special reportsExercise sound news judgment and comply with KPIX News editorial standardsBasic Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience writing television newsExperience on INEWS/ENPS or equivalent news computer systemRelated College degree and/or equivalent preferredAdditional Qualifications:
Ability to create clear, compelling, succinct news stories from raw materials including: unedited video, reporter notes, desk notes, telephone interviews, and wire copyWriting style that is straightforward, uses active voice and is conversationalKeen eye for detail including, spelling, fact checking, balance and fairnessMust be able to work in a team atmosphere and incorporate editorial feedbackExperience working with video editing systemsFamiliarity with news feed services CNN Newsource & CBS NewspathMust possess excellent production and management skillsAbility to respond rapidly and effectively to breaking news!Hiring Salary Range: $75000.0 - 80000.0.The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies.
