The Institute for Protein Innovation (IPI) is a nonprofit research organization advancing protein science to accelerate research and improve human health. Founded in 2017 and located in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area, the Institute’s three-pronged strategy is to build protein tools, conduct related internal research and develop educational programs for the protein science and biological research communities.With a significant endowment, IPI uniquely combines the freedom of academia with the high throughput and scale of industry to take on transformative projects. IPI has built a robust platform for discovering, developing, and distributing synthetic antibodies and other protein tools to share with the biomedical community. The Institute's deep protein expertise, collaborative spirit and research tools are powering new biomedical and therapeutic discoveries with a growing community of researchers at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital and other institutions across Greater Boston and beyond.Position Overview:

We seek a dynamic and experienced Program Manager to help build and lead our scientific education program. With a strong background in scientific education, program management and content development, this individual will play a critical role in shaping and executing educational strategies that promote protein science awareness and knowledge among diverse audiences at the undergraduate level and beyond.Specific Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to develop and implement hands-on laboratory courses related to protein science. A good communicator, the Senior Program Manager will work with protein science experts—who are not primarily educators—to develop curricula, craft training materials and create educational resources for sophisticated scientific audiences.The Program Manager will also help organize and manage scientific symposia, workshops and seminars. Responsibilities include developing conference agendas, securing speakers and handling logistics to ensure successful and impactful events.A strong writer, the Program Manager will create and curate educational content, including explanatory articles (“explainers”), instructional materials and videos to support program objectives.The individual will work closely with the Director of Communications and Strategy to define and refine the strategic vision for scientific education programs, identify emerging trends and opportunities, as well as help develop and implement outreach/promotion to engage learners and the broader biomedical community.Because promoting IPI’s close-knit, scientific culture is paramount, the candidate must possess strong interpersonal and collaborative skills that work well in a highly intellectual environment among a diverse internal team.Qualifications

EducationAdvanced degree (Masters) in life sciences curriculum (e.g., Biology).PhD preferred but not required.Basic understanding of protein science, biochemistry or a related discipline.ExperienceMinimum of 7-10 years in scientific education, program management or related roles in a nonprofit or academic setting.Prior experience in designing and managing educational programs, organizing and managing scientific workshops, symposia or related events and educational content creation.Experience with educational grant writing is a plus.SkillsExcellent project management, organizational and leadership skills.Strong communication skills, including writing and presentation development.Innovative thinker with a strategic mindset.Able to thrive and respond creatively and flexibly in a start-up-like culture.Collaborative and team oriented.IPI provides competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package to support physical, mental and financial health.
