Team Leader – Environmental, Safety and Planning Assessment
to lead a team of professionals who develop and implement best practice approaches in environmental approvals and management for Western Power’s works program. In this role, you will clearly identify Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) requirements tied to the work program and engage with external stakeholders to secure essential safety and environmental approvals, ensuring the future growth, development, and protection of our network.This is a full-time permanent opportunity at our Perth Office for an individual with extensive demonstrated years’ experience working in infrastructure, construction, or other technically based industries with complex operational safety, environmental, approval and community issues.Your Role in ActionLead a team responsible for supporting the delivery of the works program by providing environment, heritage and planning advice and support to identify and obtain the necessary statutory approvals and/or agreements.Provide high level professional advice and guidance regarding the development of Western Power strategy to ensure the effective and efficient management of environment, heritage and planning matters.Develop and manage relationships with external environment, heritage and planning and infrastructure stakeholders to ensure the appropriate placement of our network assets.Support the business to ensure environmental requirements are considered as part of any participative and integrated SHE impact assessment and any environmental incident.Influence and support the business to effectively manage SHE impacts and risks associated with the network and our workforce.Collation of SHE approvals, commitments and/or performance data associated with the work program to support regulatory reporting requirements.Establish and communicate environmental, planning and heritage awareness and responsibilities to the Western Power workforce.What Makes You a Great FitBachelor’s degree qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.Solid experience and knowledge in setting strategy, planning, and leading strategic and business change.Demonstrated people management and leadership skills.Experience speaking in public forums where stakeholders have opposing interests.Knowledge of environmental & heritage approvals planning policies and procedures and ability to demonstrate practical application.Sound knowledge of construction, maintenance, and operational field practices with knowledge of statutory approvals planning policies and procedures.Strong verbal & written communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.Ability to prioritise and meet strict deadlines.By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future.
