The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Senior Applied Scientist with a strong deep learning background, to build industry-leading Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technology with Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal systems.

Key job responsibilitiesAs a Senior Applied Scientist with the AGI team, you will work with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with LLMs. Your work will directly impact our customers. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in conversational AI.

About the teamOur team’s mission is to deliver general-purpose multimodal foundation models across a wide range of applications. We are responsible for building state-of-the-art general-purpose adaptable multimodal foundation models and advancing model architecture and optimization technologies at various stages of model building, including pre-training, context length extension, fine-tuning, and post-training optimization/adaptation. We partner with other teams to achieve state-of-the-art performance. We support product teams to deliver innovative conversational AI solutions to a broad set of customers and use cases.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

PhD, or Master's degree and 5+ years of applied research experience

Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensor Flow

5+ years of building machine learning models for business application

Experience with generative models applicable to the creation of speech and text

Experience with conducting research

Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Effective verbal and written communication skills with non-technical and technical audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
