Position Description: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this newly created position is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the design, planning, and implementation of a successful fundraising program. The Senior Manager, Development achieves InterAction’s goals by partnering with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, director of membership, program managers, and Board members, to develop strategies for expanding fundraising opportunities and increase engagement with individual foundation donors.This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. InterAction maintains a hybrid work environment and employees are eligible to telework three days a week and required to work in the office two days a week. Employees are required to be based in the Washington, D.C. area.Essential FunctionsIn partnership with the senior leadership team, design and execute an effective strategic fundraising program in alignment with InterAction’s 2024-2027 strategic plan.Conduct detailed research to identify donor prospects; assist in developing annual projections and systems for monitoring and reporting progress on fundraising goals.Cultivate ongoing relationships with donors and prospects to ensure an understanding of their philanthropic interests and promote opportunities for engagement aligned with the mission and priorities of InterAction.Implement creative and customized approaches to attract and cultivate individual and foundation donors.Ensure consistent and compelling appeals aligned with the strategic goals in grant funding proposals.Advise and support the President & CEO and senior leadership on identifying and initiating major funding and partnership opportunities.Provide support to Board members to promote opportunities for engagement with potential funders committed to supporting and advancing our strategic goals.Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of InterAction programs and priorities to identify and pursue new funding sources to advance our work.Ensure up-to-date management of prospect database for tracking fundraising activities to ensure seamless coordination of outreach efforts with internal teams and advise finance staff of status of leads in the pipeline.Ensure seamless management of outreach actions, individual and foundation relationships, related activities, and contribution fulfillment.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum five years of direct experience soliciting donors and managing fundraising activities through individual, foundation, and corporate donations.Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and build relationships with donors, prospects, and stakeholders.Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to craft compelling, influential fundraising communication.Experience managing a portfolio of current and prospective donors and identifying and cultivating new prospects.Experience establishing, monitoring, and meeting short-term and long-term revenue goals.Strong research, analytical, and database skills; experience using data analytics to measure success.Commitment to the mission and values of InterAction.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience with association membership, nonprofit organization, and NGOsExperience with international policy, development, public administration, public policy or business organization.Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRMsExperience with grant writing and proposal developmentAbility to speak a language other than English highly desirableSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThe position does not supervise employees.TravelApproximately 20% domestic travel
