Job Description - Senior Project Manager (3311623)SUMMARY:The Sr. Project Manager will work under the direction of a Principal Investigator, Michelle Rengarajan, MD, PhD, in the Endocrine Unit at MGH. Our lab focuses on translational research, leveraging multi-omic tools to decipher trajectories of inflammatory diseases directly in humans. The project manager will focus on the overarching goal of accelerating therapeutic development for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and other rare genetic diseases by advancing mechanistic understanding of inflammatory pathways and improving quantitative biomarker profiling approaches for measuring therapeutic efficacy. The primary responsibility of the project manager will be to manage and facilitate complex projects related to biomarker discovery and therapeutic development in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Please note that the functions are representative of major duties that are typically associated with these positions. Specific responsibilities may vary based upon study needs. Similarly, not all duties that have been outlined will be assigned to each position.Project Management: 85%Track goals and progress for each project and ensure completion according to project timeline. Includes connecting with individuals working on each project to identify challenges with meeting project goals or areas for improved efficiency.Act as a general resource for project information.Manage regulatory details for each project, including maintaining IRB protocols and documentation and establishing MTAs with collaborators.Laboratory management: Manage laboratory databases, including samples, reagents and ensuring appropriate documentation of sample flow. Manage laboratory orders and track reagent arrival. Ensure that standard laboratory supplies are well-stocked. Supervise laboratory record keeping.Facilitate project meetings including coordinating agenda and action items for lab meetings as well as smaller PI meetings with both lab members and external collaborators.Budget management: Track spending and burn rate for each project and supervise grant management. Monitor laboratory spending from different cost centers. Put together budgets and actuals for each project and update quarterly.Track grant deadlines and review progress and coordinate with MGH grant submission process. Prepare project progress reports when required by grant agencies.Administrative Duties: 15%Work closely with PI to manage PI schedule, including individual and group meetings with lab members and external collaborators.Coordinate with PI and lab members to set agenda and action items for meetings.As needed, may be asked to attend and take minutes at meetings with collaborators or internal lab projects.Track meeting follow-ups to ensure operational efficiency and clear communication.FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:Prepare and monitor study budgets.Track project spending.Work in collaboration with the Sr. Grant Administrator on grant submissions.WORKING CONDITIONS:Duties will be carried out in a hybrid office environment.Generally, 1-2 days per week will be on site, with most days remote.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in a health or science-related field is preferred.Prior project management experience in academia or industry is a plus.Required 5+ years of Project Management or demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex, enterprise projects.SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail.High level of trustworthiness, reliability and discretion.Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Ability to interact professionally with senior-level individuals from industry, government, academia, non-profit related to project work.Experience in project management is preferred.Basic data analysis capabilities preferred.Strong research design and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to problem solve, preferred.Capacity to organize complex projects and diverse staff members and outstanding judgment with regards to study design and protocols.Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet applications) and the ability to learn new computer applications.Massachusetts General Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
