The George Washington University Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division is seeking an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement. DAR is responsible for leading the university’s alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients, and other friends. Our goal is to advance GW's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing innovative programs and initiatives to engage and connect young alumni with the University.Establish and oversee the Young Alumni Council, providing a platform for young alumni to contribute to the University’s mission and goals.Create and execute the GWelcome to the City series, offering new graduate alumni opportunities to connect with fellow alumni, explore the city, and transition into professional life.Create and manage a comprehensive email series designed to welcome new graduate alumni to the alumni community, provide essential information, and foster a sense of belonging.Design and deliver engaging programs and supporting marketing strategies tailored to the interests and needs of young alumni worldwide, including networking events and social gatherings.Work closely with campus partners to align alumni engagement efforts with broader institutional goals.Support the Director in the development and implementation of overall generational engagement strategies, providing insights and expertise on young alumni engagement.Manage a small portfolio of leadership volunteers; responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of their annual gifts and moves them along the major gift pipeline when applicable.Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in a higher education setting, including experience in advancement, volunteer management, or a related field such as communications, marketing, or public relations preferred.Established flexibility and initiative; the ability to work independently, as well as thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.Experience with event planning, project management, and interoffice collaboration is a plus.Demonstrated strong writing, planning, and organizational skills.Ability and willingness to travel to domestic networks about 25% of the time is desired.Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend events as needed preferred.GW offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision, life & disability insurance, time off & leave, retirement savings, tuition, well-being, and various voluntary benefits.
