Job Description:Summary:Barr Engineering Co. seeks a business intelligence (BI) analyst to enhance our BI and data analysis capabilities. The position will support our internal data warehouse and reporting requirements, as well as the data needs of our external clients. This person will lead the advancement of our rapidly expanding data-related capabilities using the latest cloud-based tools. This role is well-suited for someone passionate about data and eager to work in an environment with significant growth opportunities.Responsibilities include:Continuing the design, development, and documentation of Barr’s enterprise data warehouse, dashboarding, and self-service reporting ecosystem using the Microsoft BI toolset (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS tabular, Power BI, Azure)Leading the process of engaging cross-functional teams to elicit and clearly document BI requirementsDesigning and developing database objects (databases, tables, views, stored procedures, etc.) within a normalized and dimensional data warehouse environmentDeveloping, maintaining, and supporting ETL processes (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory)Creating intuitive data visualizations using Power BI, Excel, and other reporting toolsDeveloping auditing and quality assurance practices to promote accuracy of the data warehouse and reportingPerforming data analysis to extract insights from complex datasetsCommunicating findings and insights to business stakeholders through clear and concise presentations and reportsCreating and maintaining system documentation (e.g., data dictionaries, procedures documents)Mentoring other data-focused staff members to advance their data capabilities and understandingMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experienceFive years of related work experienceProficiency in developing database queries in SQLExperience designing and developing ETL pipelines (e.g., SSIS, Azure Data Factory)Experience designing and developing interactive data visualizations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Plotly)Experience leading requirements-gathering efforts for BI projectsStrong organizational skills, including ability to plan, monitor, and follow through on work commitments and confirm priorities with stakeholdersHigh level of commitment to deliver exceptional client serviceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:Experience developing data warehouse tools for business purposesExperience designing and developing dimensional data modelsFamiliarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure technologies such as Fabric, Data Factory, Data Lake, Azure Analysis Services, and SharePoint OnlineFamiliarity with data science concepts and tools (e.g., machine learning, AI, Python/R)Strong understanding of security in an integrated on-premises and cloud-based BI environmentA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
