Reporting directly to the Director of Centro Latinx, the Assistant Director will serve as a key member of Centro Latinx within the broader context of Belonging and Community Justice (BCJ) area.
Centro Latinx at Emory University is an identity space focused on supporting all Emory undergraduate, graduate and professional students including Latinx students. This position is student-centered and responsible for supporting the Director's strategic vision and alignment of Emory resources to coordinate and assess community relevant programs and services to support access, academic progress, sense of belonging, persistence, and retention of students who find their place in Centro Latinx.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student Support & Supervision:
Provides resources to all Latinx students, focusing on the undergraduate student experience.
Collaborates with student organizations and campus partners supporting Latinx students.
Creates reflective spaces for Latinx students to celebrate their cultural identities.
Supervises and develops Centro Latinx undergraduate student staff members.
Responds and supports leadership in crisis situations in accordance with university policies.
Program Coordination:
Develops and executes comprehensive Latinx identity-specific programs and services.
Coordinates efforts to support Latinx students transitioning from the Oxford Campus.
Collects and tracks program data and trends.
Cultivates and strengthens relationships with colleagues across the university.
Communication & Marketing:
Leads social media content creation and implementation.
Markets and promotes Centro Latinx and its programming.
Fiscal & Center Operations:
Processes university fiscal paperwork promptly and accurately.
Assists the Associate Director in managing the Centro Latinx space and reservation process.
Regularly inspects the facilities to identify any maintenance or operational issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field, and one year of professional experience with campus-wide programming and supporting Latinx or diverse student populations, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated experience in supervising and/or developing student staff.
Demonstrated experience in event management and/or student program planning.
Knowledge of student development theory and understanding current issues related to historically underrepresented communities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of professional experience with campus-wide programming and supporting Latinx or diverse student populations.
Experience advising student organizations.
Leadership experience in program and curriculum development.
NOTE:
Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
