Patent Docket Specialist (Minneapolis, Denver, or Salt Lake City) (#3854)

We are seeking a
Patent Docket Specialist
for our Minneapolis, Denver, or Salt Lake City office. In this role, you will support all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent docketing across Dorsey's IP offices. Are you passionate about IP? In this role, you will:
Accurately docket new patent application filings, incoming office actions, formalities and all other correspondence related to the filing, prosecution, and maintenance of patent matters.Review and comprehend documents submitted or received from the USPTO, international patent offices and foreign agents to ensure all deadlines are identified and docketed in accordance with established practice procedures.Maintain accurate patent docket records and respective matter information in the IP docket database; may include conducting periodic system audits.Monitor outstanding open due dates in IP docket database and follow up with attorneys and internal client teams or advance due dates in accordance with existing country law and established practice procedures.Maintain and distribute various matter and docket reports to attorneys and internal client teams in accordance with established practice procedures.Create new docket records in the IP docket database.Assist with intake and transfer-outs, and respective auditing of all patent transfer files; accurately update the IP docket database accordingly.Provide assistance with overflow docketing and/or coverage as needed.Assist docket staff, attorneys and support staff with other tasks as needed.May perform other duties not listed above.
What we're looking for:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.Competent ability to interface with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, WIPO, and other websites regarding patent matters.Competent organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume of action items in a timely manner.Competent ability to work and communicate effectively with firm personnel and clients.Competent ability to follow oral and written instructions.Competent ability to prepare accurate, highly detailed work; excellent proofreading skills.Competent computer skills including basic word processing and data entry.Competent ability to organize information using various manual and computer formats.Ability to work independently with little supervision.Ability to work overtime if needed.
Preferred:
At least 2 years of patent docketing experience in a law firm environment.Competent knowledge of, and exposure to, docketing databases; Foundation IP is preferred.Competent understanding of national and international patent law.
