Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the Opportunity?The Senior Manager, Operational Resilience & Business Continuity Management is responsible for the design, execution, reporting, and oversight of the Operational Resilience and Business Continuity Management Programs within RBC Bank. This role includes a monitoring and reporting mandate that will ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies are established and integrated with Operational Risk Management, such that all stakeholders understand their accountabilities in being compliant with applicable regulatory requirements related to Operational Resilience. Ensures all Business Lines meet the maximum level of preparedness, conforming to policy, regulatory compliance imperatives and industry standards for Incident Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning. Acts as a senior professional advisor to Group Heads and business line heads to this end. Facilitates creation of the high-level strategies and tactical plans providing support throughout RBC Bank, and develops and co-ordinates Incident Management capability, Command Centre(s) and operate an emergency communications network throughout RBC Bank. In tandem with business unit Executive and Senior Management, ensures operational risk relating to Business Continuity is identified and mitigated.What will you do?Program Execution:Update and maintain the inventory of Critical & Significant business services, ensuring Lines of Businesses key processes are identified, inventoried, mapped from an end to end perspective across RBC BankDocument impact tolerance statements based on risk appetite and identified harmsPlan and conduct table-top scenario exercises and assess control environment with key stakeholders to determine whether recovery within impact tolerance is possibleValidate and document scenario testing outputs, gaps identified, and remediation requiredAssess the risks, SPOFs, gaps and vulnerabilities in the critical processes to prioritize recommendations and remediation in ORMSPrepare Self-assessment Reports for Service Owner sign-offCollaborate with Operational Risk colleagues and risk domain experts (e.g. Third party risk, Business continuity management, Cyber/IT, Conduct, Data risks, etc.) to develop a comprehensive perspective of operational resilienceMonitoring and Reporting:Development of key risk indicators for RBC Bank to measure, analyze, monitor and report on resilience postureDevelop and support the delivery of enterprise developed training and awareness programs to ensure proper understanding and implementation of Operational Resilience and mitigation of riskBusiness Continuity Management:Partnering with Business Line Executives to create, coordinate and maintain a resilient response plan for the Business Line(s) of responsibility, and RBC Bank as a wholeAssess the adequacy of the analysis of alternative strategies and resource dependencies developed by Unit & Senior ManagersResponsible for the facilitation of BCM Plan Development/Maintenance, Research, Reporting, Compliance, Testing, Resource Management, Communication and Incident ManagementIdentify areas of emerging riskProvide support to the Business Line(s) Incident Management Team, maintaining a working relationship/liaison with other Incident Management TeamsWhat do you need to succeed?University degree, or equivalentOperational Resilience and Business Continuity Management backgroundExperience in implementing risk management practices in the financial services industryStrong understanding of Operational Resilience and Business Continuity ManagementKnowledge of regulatory requirements and leading practices regarding Operational ResilienceExecution of policies and procedures and proficient in risk management methodologiesUnderstanding of Canadian Banking services and processesExcellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focusExperience in identifying and implementing appropriate controls for effective risk mitigationExperience in defining and implementing effective management reportingExperience working in a complex, matrix environment and proactively managing a diverse set of stakeholdersExperience in implementing practical communication strategies to ensure that policies are understood and are adhered toStrong program management skills with the ability to independently create and execute a detailed plan for short and long term workStrong presentation skills (written and verbal) and ability to demonstrable experience in effective communication/presenting at a Director’s level.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
