Superintendent
for our construction company concentrating in concrete building and repaving. The
Superintendent
will be directly responsible for overseeing the construction effort on roadway, highway, and heavy construction projects to ensure that all work is being constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and contractual requirements. This position will require traveling depending on the location of the scheduled project. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas with the majority of work occurring throughout Texas, we also perform work throughout cities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida and Mississippi. Primary Responsibilities:Organizes and plans work activities with Operations Manager to develop the most appropriate sequence and to discuss the best means and methods.Provides overall onsite management of construction projects and coordinates with Foreman for day-to-day direction of operations.Provides technical assistance, interpretation of drawings and documents, quality control and serves as the onsite liaison for the company.Directly supervises and coordinates with the Foreman on assigned project to ensure that proper resources (labor, equipment, material) are in place for the timely completion of work.Reports to Operations Manager daily regarding the status of the project and upcoming activities.Coordinates schedule with subcontractors and ensures that all work conforms to the contract requirements.Assumes responsibility for the overall productivity of the crew and subcontractors, efficient use of materials and equipment, and the contractual performance of the project.Assists in resolving construction problems and/or delays as required.Promotes and complies with all company safety policies and procedures.Reviews all contracts, specifications, plans, and project documents to ensure that the work is built to the appropriate standards and to satisfaction of the Owner.Takes responsibility for crew’s performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and compliance with policies and procedures. Takes corrective and/or disciplinary actions to address deficiencies and policy violations.Monitors quality of work being performed on a daily basis.Assists with jobsite orientation and mentoring of new workers.Coordinates equipment needs, ensures operators are qualified, and communicates maintenance issues with mechanics in a timely manner.Always maintains a dedication to safety by routinely holding safety meetings, enforcing safe work practices, and ensuring that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel. Ensures that time sheets for labor and equipment are prepared and maintains detailed records of work performed with the appropriate quantities daily.Communicates with the Owner’s representatives and/or inspector to discuss project related matters.Coordinates with Owner’s representative and Contract Administrators to assist in preparing monthly estimates for work performed on assigned projects.Prepares accident and/or injury reports for any jobsite incident and ensures that all appropriate paperwork is submitted to the home office in a timely manner.Performs other related administrative tasks and duties as assigned by Operations Manager.
Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a similar role within the construction industry.Familiarity with equipment, materials, and methods used in the construction industry.Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively.Ability to read and understand project specific documents including construction plans, specifications, material data sheets, safety data sheets, and other pertinent project information.Ability to keep organized records and to prepare work and time reports.Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.Ability to work well under pressure and within established timelines.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and allocate resources as needed.Ability to work with management to resolve any issues that arise on a project.Must be knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices.Must be accustomed to working outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.Must be able to perform physical activities that may require climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending.Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required by the company.Must be willing and able to travel and work out of town on various jobsites.Must hold a valid government issued driver’s license.Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and E-verify.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
