General ManagerPosition Purpose and ObjectivesAs an Assistant Store Manager (ASM) with America’s Thrift Stores (ATS), you will inspire your team to live out ATS Mission and Values while upholding the company culture. ASMs partner with the General Manager (GM) to meet financial goals to generate the revenue and donations necessary to support the mission operations and community programs provided by ATS. You will empower your team while creating an environment for personal and professional growth. The ASM must manage operations such as budgeting, financial reporting, profit and loss, identification of high-quality donated items, loss prevention, product quality control, product pricing, and build community rapport with an emphasis on customer relations.Roles and ResponsibilitiesPartners with GM to lead retail supervisors and oversee their respective team membersInterviews and hires candidates for employment with ATSMonitors and trains employees regarding their job dutiesCoaches, counsels, and leads supervisors and team members regarding performancePartners with Assets Protection (AP) team and/or Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to investigate incidentsRegularly uses company reports to create and maintain sales floor layoutsExercises independent judgment in assigning daily job dutiesCoordinates and ensures accuracy of deposits and change ordersNotifies management of any cash, register, and/or operating issuesPartners with DM and HRBP to report any harassment or EEOC issuesConducts onboarding and orientation and ensures that all documents are valid and accurateOversees store operations, resources, and budgets for the locationCreates an atmosphere of ongoing exceptional customer serviceManages inventory levels of all merchandise categoriesMonitors and ensures a smooth flow of donations adhering to all published standardsResponsible for presentation and merchandising standards on the sales floorResponsible for maintaining a safe environment for customers & employeesComplies with and enforces company policies, standards, and valuesAny other duties as assignedSkills and QualificationsAt least 3 years of management experience in a retail, production, logistics, or processing environmentBasic math and computer skillsProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related softwareDemonstrated capacity to embrace changeExperience with hiring and developing staffProven ability to inspire, coach, train, and develop store team membersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work with all levels of employeesExcellent time management skillsFrequent lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbsProlonged walking, standing, and frequent mobility requiredMust be able to pass a background check and drug screenOther duties as assigned: This job description may not cover every duty or responsibility that might arise in the course of employment.
