Shredder Manager

As the Shredder Manager you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the shredding processes in partnership with the General Manager. The Shredder Manager is responsible for the daily activities of the shredder to include operational efficiencies, maintenance, supervision of assigned employees, and setting and achieving production goals.
This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Champion a positive and safe work environment for all employees, customers, suppliers, and vendors.Responsible for the safety and security of the employees, inventory, and equipment, as well as identifying and implementing the appropriate operations, maintenance, and training certifications for all applicable employees.Partner with the General Manager and Environmental Health and Safety Manager regarding all aspects of shredder operations.Direct production and maintenance scheduling across multiple shifts to meet assigned production goals and minimize down time.Mentor, lead, and train all personnel assigned to the shredder.Complete all daily inspections, and production, operational and maintenance reports.Prepare shredder budgets and make recommendations for capital expenditure to sustain and grow production operations.Complete daily inspections and reports.Maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate parts are on hand, or ordered timely, for all scheduled or unscheduled repairs.Back-up General Manager as needed with all employee training, operations and EHS audits and inspections, and other duties as needed.Qualifications of the Shredder Supervisor
High School Diploma, or GED; Bachelors or Associates Degree in a related field of study preferred.5+ years’ shredder operations experience in the scrap metal or related industry.5 years of progressively responsible management experience in leading fast paced and diverse operations.Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to communicate effectively, interact with vendors and contractors, ability to manage and motivate employees, and promote a strong company culture centered on safety and quality.Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor environment and in all types of weather.Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).A comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, PLC’s and large motor subsystems.Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
