What we are looking for:

Yazaki is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Connectors Business Unit (ComBU) in Canton, MI. This person will lead and guide an engineering team toward achieving their functional objectives. Identify resources, skills training, and other support needed to meet established targets. Communicate the team's progress and status of assignments with internal groups or externally, as required.

What you will be doing:

Oversee the launch of team activities and take accountability for the team's performanceManage the daily activities of one or several connector development teamsManage balancing workload and address areas of concernManage multiple product designs and deliveriesManage the team members' complying with work instructions, processes and procedures.Manage priorities for the teams' ensuring timely task completionFacilitate Human Resources related issues and administrative interface to YNAFacilitate solving development conflicts with other departments or external vendors/customers.Manage resources for the timely delivery of connector developmentsManage solving design issues and avoiding recurring deigns issues.Approve prepared project development plans including resources and expensesLead and participate in the regular departmental meetingsAuthorize the reported work hours for team members under supervisionManage one's own and team members' vacations so that those wouldn't affect any project schedules.Manage supervised associates' performance, outline career paths using the HR performance system.Develop and implement career development with training plans agreed upon with supervised associatesArrange proper circumstance where team members are coached and trained in engineering / technical disciplines.Create all projects' resource forecasting in the short term or over the long term.Hire new engineers according to the resource forecastOrganize proper team members structure for all projectsFacilitate establishment and retention of the design and verification engineering standards/documentsParticipate in continuous development process improvement activitiesManage multiple project developments/deliveriesDirect how to respond to urgent solution requests from the inside/outside whenever necessary.Facilitate and maintain close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and a good relationship with customers so that projects can be completed timely and on budgetStay informed about HR-related legal risks and ensure all team members receive the appropriate trainingOversee the team's identification of root causes for engineering issues and document lessons learned to prevent future occurrencesEncourage team members to work independently while supporting one another as neededWhat you will bring to the table:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentMinimum of ten years of automotive related or equivalent electrical/electronic production design experience and release of mechanically designed productIntimate knowledge of terminal contact geometry / electrical performance of Low Voltage, High Voltage, High Speed/High Frequency connector products.Intimate knowledge and application of industry specifications (USCAR-2, 12, 37, 49 etc)Intimate knowledge of connector design features (plastic lock arms, TPA's, CPA's, blade stabilizers) and sealing structures and standards.DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, Control Plan knowledge and practical application of industry relevant designsKnowledge of CAD Modeling (2D, 3D) (Solidworks capability preferred, CATIA V5 acceptable)Working knowledge of PC environment (Excel, Word, and Power-point, etc)Ability to create new and interpret existing geometric drawings / modelsWorking knowledge of linear FEA, dimensional analysis (GD&T, RMS, statistical analysis, etc)Sophisticated oral / written communication skillsAbility to focus on multiple assignments at a single time (multi-task)Materials knowledge (plastic, metals, rubber)Understanding of Injection Molding / Stamping / Basic Die DesignLeadership / mentorship experience for teamsWhat we can provide you:
