What You'll Do
As a Licensed Practical Nurse for one of our temporary housing shelters, you'll coordinate and provide health care services for shelter clients. This will include ensuring that health screens are provided in accordance with NYSOTDA and Department of Health requirements, providing crisis intervention in medical emergencies, serving as liaison to the local ambulance corps and all other community-based health providers, and serving as a patient advocate and health care educator for the facility.
Your responsibilities will include:Obtaining and documenting medical history for all clients; taking and recording blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.; and ensuring health screens are conducted on all clients.Supervising Medication Coordinators and observing patients on medication to identify progress and/or side-effects of medications.Assist with basic medical care tasks such as administering injections and prescribed medications, cleaning and dressing wounds, and collecting samples for lab testing.Designing and implementing health education programs for staff and residents and providing individual and group instruction on preventive health care.You're a great fit for this role if you have:
New York State Licensed Practical Nurse.Proven experience as an LPN or similar role.Must be BLS/CPR certified.Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.Understanding of HIPPA, confidentiality obligations, and nursing best practices.Knowledge of medical and hospital terminology and hospital health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office, applications.Prior experience working with underserved populations and knowledge of social service resources are a plus.We Have GREAT BENEFITS!
