Must have skill: Therapist able to treat on Varian & Elekta machines.Minimum years of experience: 2 yearsdditional Info: Must have ARRT Certification, their own state license, CPR.
FUNCTION:
Works at clinical sites under the direct supervision of Chief Radiation Therapist/Manager on assigned duties.
Ensures high quality service through patient experience, on-site operations, follows procedure, performance of practice standards. Implements and abides by patient care standards. Supports and demonstrates family-centered care principles when interacting with patients and with co-workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on the location, Radiation Therapist II should be able to operate all types of radiation therapy machines and CT simulator technology at their assigned locations to administer accurate, efficient, and reproducible radiation therapy treatments. This includes proper use of linear accelerator, use of beam and patient monitoring equipment, use of appropriate treatment devices, and correct chart and film documentation.
Perform accurate and efficient radiation therapy treatment simulations. This includes proper use of simulator, fabrication of various treatment devices, photographing of setup and tattooing of patients (as required).
Perform daily quality assurance checks for linear accelerator and simulator in an efficient manner by following established procedures.
Review patient chart including but not limited to identification, diagnosis, setup/positioning notes, prescription, and plan documents before initiating treatment.
Perform patient imaging as ordered by physician to analyze and accurately reproduce patient positioning before delivery of radiation.
Monitor patients for sides effects, such as skin irritation, nausea, or hair loss, to assess patient reactions to treatment. Notify appropriate staff accordingly.
Evaluate, recognize, and report malfunctioning equipment as per established protocols.
Maintain cleanliness of the equipment, treatment room, simulation room, and consoles/workstations.
Provide coverage for other clinic locations (as required).
Review patient charts accurately and efficiently in preparation of radiation start. This includes but is not limited to communicating with physicians and other departments for any missing or unapproved documents and scheduling imaging as prescribed by the physician.
Function as a second level problem solver in areas such as treatment set-ups and techniques, scheduling, machine maintenance, and quality assurance compliance.
Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions or post-treatment care.
Monitor department inventory and report to Chief Radiation Therapist/Manager before reaching zero supply levels.Other duties as may be assigned.
