Job Description
The
Carrier Sourcing Manager
is responsible for managing R+L Global's core carrier program, including development of existing core carriers, and adding new carriers to the network that fully meet R+L Global's carrier qualification requirements. The Carrier Sourcing Manager will oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies to identify and secure reliable, cost-effective carrier partners across a wide network of lanes. This role will manage the entire carrier procurement process, including RFP management, rate negotiations, and contract execution, to support both new customer implementations and existing network operations. Additionally, the Manager will lead network-wide RFP projects for current customers and execute independent sourcing initiatives for new customer engagements.

responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following :Develop and manage the core carrier program to ensure the best level of service at the most competitive prices.Engage in carrier development that can serve existing and new business in all modes through strategic alignment with business opportunity.Manage the carrier procurement processes, including RFP creation and execution, KPI development, and contracting; ensure terms and conditions in carrier contracts mitigate risk to the organization.Oversee carrier on-boarding processes to ensure quick start up and utilization of new carriers.Maintain carrier database to ensure profile data integrity for existing carriers.Network optimization of existing business and providing sales force with information for needed lanes, continuous movement opportunity and cost reduction opportunities.The above job functions are illustrative of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, or other relevant academic discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.In-depth understanding of the transportation, including trends, capacity fluctuations, and rate drivers.Ability to analyze carrier data, pricing structures, and capacity trends to make informed sourcing decisions.Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid and concise conclusions and recommendations.Strong ability to negotiate favorable terms with carriers, balancing cost control with service quality.Skilled in fostering and maintaining long-term partnerships with carriers to secure reliable service and competitive rates.Highly effective interpersonal and technical skills, including presenting, advising and consulting executive management.Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with both internal and external business partners.Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently2+ years' experience within a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) company, specifically focused on sourcing and contracting with carriers.2+ years' experience in a supervisory or management level role leading and directing the work of othersMercuryGate and McLeod setup and configuration experience preferredIn-depth knowledge of 3PL operations, sourcing methods, and procurement tools.Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously, including RFPs, contract negotiations, and new carrier onboarding.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, and maintain discretion on confidential matters while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer serviceAbility to motivate, coach, and develop others, and to influence a group of people to achieve common goals, and implement organizational strategies and change.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
