La Center High School is seeking a qualified and experienced substitute Associate Principal to join our team during an upcoming leave of absence, January 6 - February 14, 2025. This role supports the Principal in providing a safe, positive, and productive learning environment for students and staff. The substitute Associate Principal will play an essential role in managing student discipline, supporting teachers, and upholding the district's mission and values.
LA CENTER HIGH SCHOOL
We serve approximately 590 students in grades 9 through 12 and boast a 92% graduation rate. Our students are prepared for college and careers after graduation and participate in a variety of course offerings including Advanced Placement, CTE, and Fine and Performing Arts. We have amazing students who make impacts on the communities in which they live.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTThis position is a long-term substitute assignment, January 6 - February 14, 2025; dates are subject to change based on the needs of the district.The successful candidate must be fingerprinted at the applicant's expense. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and clearance by the Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides student discipline support and management to maintain a positive school climate, including handling disciplinary actions and communicating with families as neededProvides IEP coverageOversees student activities and maintains safety and security in common areas, classrooms, and school eventsCollaborates with teachers to support classroom management and instructional strategiesProvides for school safety; assists in crisis situations, including lockdowns and evacuations, ensuring adherence to district safety protocols and managing emergency situations effectivelyMaintains a positive learning environment for allSupervises students at school and school-sponsored events during mornings, evenings, and weekends, as assignedComplies with all district policies and proceduresComplies with the Professional Code of ConductOther duties as directed for the success of our studentsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation, Training and Experience
Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State Administrative CredentialPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Successful teaching experience at the high school level
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position typically requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending upon the activity in the particular part of the day and location.
SALARY:
$310/full day
BENEFITS:
Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, eligible employees and their qualified dependents may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes, medical, dental, and vision insurance and employer-paid long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance for the employee only. Optional benefits under SEBB include supplemental life, long-term disability, FSA and DCAP.
