The
Purchasing Specialist
is responsible for purchasing of materials related to projects according to customer specifications and estimates. In addition, this role is responsible for the purchase of materials, goods and services as needed to complete the planned projects and other purchases as required to maintain inventory and supplies for plant operations.
Responsibilities
Review customer specifications and the estimate to prepare detailed job instructions for manufacturing operations.Communicate with customer service, sales, production, and our vendors regarding job specifications, work-in-process, and outsourced items.Complete understanding of paper and other substrates for litho, flexo, and wide format operations.Initiate purchase orders to internal/external suppliers for all goods and services.Maintain a visible schedule and communicate any variation from the original statement of work to the appropriate parties.Serve as a liaison between our internal/external vendors and our internal/external clients.Negotiate on behalf of the company in accordance with guidelines to achieve savings through best purchasing practices.Maintain pricing tables for commodity items like paper and other consumables to always reflect the current market. Work closely with paper distributors to stay ahead of price changes and note trends.Some local travel may be required (less than 10%)Contribute during any production meeting or planning meeting.Other duties as assigned.Practice all job, department and company safety procedures.Practice all job-related ISO 9001 quality procedures.Qualifications
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.Proficient MS Office skills, including working knowledge of Excel and data entry skills.In-depth knowledge of printing, packaging, bindery, and flexo manufacturing operations.Solid understanding of impositions and layouts as they pertain to offset, digital, and flexo workflows, including bindery and finishing processes.Must possess excellent type written, written and verbal communication skills.Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Established skills in accuracy, organization, meeting deadlines and working in a high-volume environment.Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company.Why work with us?
