Under the general direction of the Statewide Medical Director, the Statewide Chief Psychiatrist provides direct supervision of all statewide psychiatrists and psychiatric initiatives, as well as functional supervision of the Chief Psychiatrists within the five hospitals. The Statewide Chief Psychiatrist provides direct supervision to Senior Psychiatrist Supervisors in charge of statewide programs including the Psychopharmacology Resource Network (PRN), the statewide Telepsychiatry Program, and the Statewide Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) Solutions. This position oversees Recruitment and Retention, the CDCR liaison psychiatrist, and Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. This position oversees a team of psychiatrists conducting utilization management for the Incompetent to Stand Trial population. The Statewide Chief Psychiatrist conducts research and evidence reviews and oversees the risk management processes related to morbidity and mortality throughout statewide programs.

Working ConditionsTelework is available for this position approximately 45% of the time. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time.Travel will occur and reimbursement will be in accordance with Bargaining Unit agreements and standard state travel policies.Eligible for Safety Retirement - this position requires that the employee continue their ongoing responsibility (at least 51% of their time) towards the protection and safeguarding of public and property as well as continued activities that provide regular and substantial contact with incarcerated individuals.Minimum Requirements
