September 2024Job Summary/Objective:
The Regulatory Affairs Lead is responsible for managing and developing the regulatory affairs program to ensure compliance across all Bake'n Joy Foods facilities and product lines. This role serves as the primary resource for regulatory knowledge, providing technical support and ensuring that all product information is accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with federal, state, and international regulations. The Regulatory Affairs Lead collaborates cross-functionally to proactively address regulatory challenges, maintain product specifications, and support the growth of the company's product portfolio.
Essential Functions:
Ensure regulatory compliance with FDA, USDA, and international standards, including but not limited to labeling, nutritional requirements, ingredient declarations, and allergen statements.Master the internal labeling system, providing technical oversight for data maintenance and accuracy.Create, maintain, and distribute product specifications and technical documents across customer portals, ensuring timely and accurate updates.Maintain the nutritional database to ensure accurate labeling for all SKUs, incorporating changes for new product launches.Proactively monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance to cross-functional teams on necessary adjustments to product formulations and labels.Collaborate with product development, quality assurance, and sales teams to support regulatory and technical inquiries.Conduct research and provide technical support for regulatory approvals, labeling inquiries, and compliance matters.Stay informed on the latest scientific developments and regulatory changes in food safety, nutrition, and labeling standards.Drive initiatives to prepare Bake'n Joy Foods for upcoming regulatory shifts, ensuring continued compliance and competitive advantage.Enhance product documentation by improving product photography, ensuring consistency in technical messaging, and supporting sales teams with up-to-date materials.Competencies:

Strong understanding of federal, state, and international food regulations, labeling requirements, and nutritional standards.Problem Solving:
Ability to research, analyze, and resolve complex regulatory and technical issues.Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain regulatory requirements to cross-functional teams.Attention to Detail:
High degree of accuracy in maintaining databases, preparing technical documents, and ensuring regulatory compliance.Collaboration:
Effective working across departments to drive compliance and maintain high-quality product standards.Adaptability:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing regulatory requirements.Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct reports but will provide guidance and mentorship to other team members on regulatory matters.Work Environment:
Primarily office-based within the R&D department, with occasional exposure to manufacturing and lab environments.Moderate noise levels typical of a professional office, with periods of exposure to production areas.Occasional travel to production sites for inspections or audits may be required.Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.Occasional walking, standing, and bending during interactions with production and R&D teams.Minimal lifting of product samples and files (up to 25 lbs).Position Type:

Standard business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)Overtime and weekend work as necessary based on business needs and project timelines.Travel:
Up to 10% travel, primarily to regulatory meetings, production sites, and customer audits. Most travel is domestic, with occasional overnight stays.Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or related field.Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the food industry, particularly in regulatory affairs, quality assurance, or product development.Proven track record of ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, and international food regulations.Preferred Education & Experience:
Experience managing regulatory requirements for a wide range of food products, including baked goods and ready-to-eat items.Familiarity with customer portals and product documentation systems.Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, ingredient functionality, and nutritional analysis.
