POSITION SUMMARY:
The principal's core responsibility is the improvement of student learning toward the vision of Quality Learning for Every Student Every Day actualized when every student meets all grade level and course expectations. Toward this end, the majority of his/her time is to be devoted to curriculum, parentengagement, instruction, professional learning, and the systems necessary to support these. Supervises and evaluates all certified and noncertified personnel serving in the
school.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Director of Intermediate Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree. A valid state supervisory certificate. Five years successful teaching experience or equivalent. Three years successful experience as a building administrator. Evidence of the ability to lead a school turnaround effort. Demonstrated proficiency at the following, with consistent focus on the achievement of high standards by all students:developing and nurturing a school climate focused on and supporting significant learning by allformulating long range goals and using a systems approach to planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and servicesaccurately assessing the effectiveness of teachers on the dimensions of understanding and organizing subject matter for student learning,planning instruction and designing learning experiences for all students,creating and maintaining an effective environment for student learning,engaging and supporting all students in learning,assessing student learning, and developing as a professional educatordeveloping and using a balanced assessment system at the building leveldeveloping, facilitating, and assessing professional learning programs and activities guided by the Standards of Learning Forward and other best practice.providing effective leadership and facilitation in administrative and leadership teamsorganizing personnel, materials, and facilities in efficient support of student learningworking effectively with diverse people and groupsusing technology to support instruction.
Potential candidates will engage in a performance interview using student summative assessment data to lead a mock "professional learning community" as part of the interview process.
