Purchasing Agent - Heavy Civil

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services essential for the successful execution of large heavy civil projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing solutions

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Planning:

Develop and execute procurement strategies for large civil projects, considering project timelines, budgets, and specifications.Supplier Administration:

Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.Market Research:

Conduct market research to stay informed on industry trends, material availability, and pricing fluctuations and prepare bid summaries/evaluations.Purchases Administration:

Receive purchase requests from field and draft purchase orders and contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to understand project needs and specifications.Inventory Control:

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary materials.Cost Analysis:

Analyze and report on purchasing trends, costs, and potential savings opportunities.Problem Solving:

Address and resolve procurement-related issues promptly to avoid project delays.Procurement Department Support:

Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction to support the needs of the Department.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related degree, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in heavy civil construction or related industries.Strong negotiation and communication skills.Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
