Job Summary

South Texas College of Law Houston is seeking a detail-oriented Marketing and Communications Specialist with a strong background in public relations writing, social media content creation, and website maintenance. This role will support the college's public relations and digital presence by creating engaging content for media outreach, managing social media content and interactions, and maintaining website updates. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will assist in executing social media strategies under the guidance of the Marketing and Communications team and contribute to the institution's overall communications efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Public Relations and Media Outreach

• Write press releases, feature articles, and editorial content to highlight the achievements, events, and initiatives of South Texas College of Law Houston.

• Support media outreach by coordinating with internal departments to gather story ideas and provide information for press inquiries.

• Assist in building and maintaining media relationships to support positive coverage.

Social Media Content Creation and Management

• Develop and publish content that supports South Texas College of Law Houston's social media strategy, aligning with the brand's voice and goals.

• Engage with audiences across platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook) by posting relevant content, responding to comments, and fostering community interaction.

• Monitor social media analytics and engagement metrics, providing insights to enhance content and refine strategies in coordination with the team.

Website Content Updates and Maintenance

• Assist in maintaining the institutional website by making timely content updates, edits, and revisions to ensure accuracy and alignment with current priorities.

• Collaborate with departments to gather updated information for website sections and ensure consistency in messaging.

Content Creation and Campaign Support

• Write, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, email campaigns, and marketing collateral to ensure clarity, accuracy, and brand consistency.

• Support marketing campaigns with compelling content across digital and traditional channels.

Analytics and Reporting

• Track and analyze PR and social media performance metrics, providing regular insights to the Marketing and Communications team.

• Assist in tracking website analytics to understand user behavior and optimize content as needed.

Qualifications



Education : Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.



Experience:

2+ years of experience in public relations writing, social media content management, and website maintenance, ideally in a higher education or nonprofit setting.

Skills:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging content.

• Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and social media platforms.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills:

Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) and analytics tools is a plus.
