THIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED AND MAY CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE
Duties include approving and processing purchase orders for equipment, supplies and services; working with City departments to prepare specifications for the bidding process, and issuing solicitations through the Ion Wave bidding platform; conducting pre-bid conferences with vendors and City department managers in order to obtain and furnish crucial information, and preparing bid addenda as necessary; preparing bid tabulations and assisting City departments in evaluating vendor responses; generating bid recommendation items for presentation to the City Council; assisting City departments with Cooperative purchases as appropriate; and assisting City departments in understanding purchasing policies and procedures. If assigned to support Public Works, will work closely with Capital Improvement Program, Traffic and Transportation, Water Utilities as well as Solid Waste Services departments, assisting with public works initiatives. Duties will require meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication and time-management skills. Duties will also require the ability to adhere to strict deadlines, working in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in purchasing, public administration, business or a related field is preferred; and two years of experience in purchasing or bid preparation / evaluation is required. Prior experience with MUNIS Enterprise Resource Planning software and/or a computerized bidding platform beneficial. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
