Job Description
The Logistics Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating the routing process for both collect and prepaid shipments as well as coordinating transportation expectations with the appropriate carriers, both internal and external customers. This position assists in printing labels, assigning and scheduling pickups, and prepping shipments.
• Work closely with your specialist team member to ensure your assigned accounts are up to date, accurate, and meeting Samsonite standards.
• Check order readiness with Customer Service. Create routing requests by accurately entering shipment data into customer TMS. Process shipments and check into Shipping according to customer instructions.
• Build parcel and LTL shipments according to established standards for the given mode of transportation and with consideration of customer specific requirements. Check shipments into Shipping and communicate any special handling requests.
• Assist the shipping clerks with preparation and shipment closing as needed.
• Monitor and respond in a timely manner to emails sent by various departments to the Warehouse Issues email box.
• In downtime, offer support and assistance to other members of the team. This is a great opportunity to learn new functions within the department and cross train on new accounts.
• Proactively review routing guides to stay up to date on customer routing requirements and limit exposure to chargebacks.
• Logistics Coordinator I position will require some supervision and guidance from the Logistics Specialist and Logistics Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience in a logistics environment.
• Willingness to work long hours/weekends in a Warehouse Office environment.
Preferred Skills and Industry experience :
• Truckload and LTL shipping experience.
• High level of knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
• Strong SAP experience.
• Parcel shipping in addition to TL and LTL.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as the position will communicate to employees at all levels both internally and externally.
