Summary:
Purchasing Agent will prepare, verify, and place purchase orders based on operational needs while meeting material budgets on all projects. Develop and monitors purchase order system to maintain direct cost inventory levels and availability. Resolves issues related to inventory returns, replacements, and credit assignments.
Essential Functions:Negotiating and procuring materials for multiple jobs in multiple locations.Ensuring that all materials are acquired at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.Interviewing vendors, analyzing quotes, recommending resources and scheduling deliveries.Obtaining delivery certifications and reviewing materials received against orders placed.Work with Branch Managers to research invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.Developing and maintaining necessary records and files.Demonstrating role model behaviors on ethics and integrity as well as positively promoting Company Culture.Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business.Collaborate with Maintenance & Construction teams to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels throughout the year.Manage the company's day-to-day purchasing activities.Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.Establishes purchasing policies and ensure compliance.Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.Establishes account/credit and terms then forward to accounting for vendor/account setup; follow up for completion.Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost during the time period.Works closely with field to ensure proper supplies arrived.Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.Collaboratively works with other departments to ensure timeliness & completion of projects.Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
Qualifications Required
-Landscaping industry experience
-3+ years of purchasing experience
