Job Summary
The Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and monitoring the day-to-day operations of production and non-production database environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes tasks such as space management, performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching, and database refreshes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Oracle DBA functions on a 19c or above platform, with strong proficiency in RMAN, Active Data Guard, GoldenGate, GDS, and the ability to support both OLTP and Data Warehouse environments. Experience with EDB Postgres, both on-premises and in the cloud, is highly desirable, as well as the ability to support a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and maintain database environments, ensuring efficient operation and preventing disruptions
• Perform space administration at both the database and operating system level
• Support database performance tuning, backup and recovery, patching, and refreshes as required
• Manage high-availability setups, including Active Data Guard, RMAN, RAC, and GDS
• Support both OLTP and Data Warehouse environments, handling databases larger than 20TB
• Collaborate with multiple teams to troubleshoot and resolve database issues
• Utilize scripting languages (BASH, KSH, PowerShell, Python) to automate routine tasks and improve efficiency
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to ensure database availability and reliability
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of Oracle DBA experience managing large databases (>20TB)
• Proficiency in scripting languages, such as BASH, KSH, PowerShell, or Python
• Expertise in Active Data Guard, RMAN, RAC, GDS
• Experience with EDB Postgres Advanced Server
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively to address database issues
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with end-users and formalize requirements
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Familiarity with backup and recovery tools like Data Domain or Rubrik
• Experience with MongoDB Atlas
• Background in the insurance or healthcare industry
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
