Overview
This position is located in Manchester, NH.
The Lead Radiation Therapist will function in both a supervisory support and direct patient care role. This position will be responsible for providing assistance to the Chief Radiation Therapist in the management of daily operations for radiation therapy services at the main campus and satellites.
Responsibilities
Lead Therapist shall be in compliance with the position responsibilities of a staff radiation therapist at all times (refer to Radiation Therapist position responsibilities)Collaborates with the Chief Radiation Therapist to facilitate daily clinical activitiesOversees the administration of safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment to ensure optimal patient careLeads, directs and participates in the evaluation of radiation therapists in the proper procedures in simulation and treatment of patients.Demonstrates practice-related learning and sharing knowledge and skills with othersLeads and participates in employee engagement initiatives and take meeting minutes for documentationMaintains flexible staff and patient scheduling to promote maximum and efficient patient throughputAssists in new patient scheduling duties and oversee the patient treatment schedule for efficiency and correct appointment/treatment timesParticipates in the clinical instruction and evaluation of the Radiation Therapy studentsAssists with onboarding of new staff and organize schedule to facilitate staff's participation in therapy meetings and in-servicesPromotes adherence to documented policies and proceduresMaintains clinical supply levels.Function as an inter-departmental liaison between and coordinates clinical operations with physicians, radiation therapists, dosimetrists, physicists, nurses, and other staff to ensure that patients receive integrated, timely, and accurate treatmentsAssist in participation with daily huddleIdentify clinical environmental needs and demonstrate the appropriate follow-up action to address themSupport overseeing compliance with required competencies being updated and completedIdentify challenges and opportunities for change or improvementClearly and concisely convey relevant information in both formal and informal documentationUtilize appropriate communication with all members of the healthcare teamEncourage collaboration and input from all team members, valuing the contributions of othersBalance individual goals with those of the teamConduct themselves as a professional role model and maintains professional demeanor when resolving staff issues and resolutions with intra and interdepartmental conflict.Travel between sites and work where assignedPerform other job-related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Graduate of a JCERT accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent, requiredBS Degree in Radiation Therapy or a related health science field, preferred3+ years of experience as a radiation therapist with comprehensive clinical knowledge to include treatment delivery and simulation, requiredRequired Licensure/Certifications
Certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiation therapy, requiredLicensed by the New Hampshire State Office of Professional Licensure and Certification and Vermont State Office of Professional Regulation as a Radiation Therapist, requiredCertification in Basic Life Support/ CPR, required
