Position Summary
Participates in the design, development, implementation and administration of the company's qualified and non-qualified retirement benefit programs including but not limited to: bargaining and non-bargaining defined benefit and contribution plans; employee stock-based plans; and special executive plans (e.g., supplemental retirement and deferred compensation programs). Assists in vendor negotiations regarding level of benefits provided, costs, performance guarantees and expectations. Makes program recommendations to ensure the company's competitive position in the marketplace and assists with improving and/or securing new policies and programs in order to provide the most favorable plans, cost terms and coverage for all types of retirement benefits. Ensures compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Provides support and high level consultative services to regulated and non-regulated business units on special retirement benefit needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Retirement benefit programs: Assists with the design, development, implementation, communication and administration of all qualified and non-qualified retirement benefits programs for active employees and retirees. Researches market trends and makes recommendations to management regarding changes, enhancements, etc.
Vendor selection/relationships: Assists in negotiations with vendors, including benefits provided; costs; performance guarantees and expectations; identification of systems requirements; etc. Works with vendors to define working relationships and ensures that appropriate systems are established and effective, and that internal processes are in place and continuously monitored.
Programs planning and administration: Provides consultation to regulated and non-regulated businesses as well as provides expertise for all retirement benefits processes. Assists with updating or introducing new retirement benefits plans, communications materials and processes. Consults in divestiture/acquisition process. Assists in budget preparation.
Communication: Develops and delivers retirement communications including but not limited to orientation programs, new plan provisions, SPDs, Summary Annual Reports, Pension Packets and all other enrollment/distribution processes.
Compliance: Ensures that all retirement plans are in regulatory and legal compliance (e.g., plan documents are produced; SPDs are updated and distributed; required government filings are accurate and meet required deadlines, etc.). Assists with internal/external audits and implements recommended changes required in processes or systems.
Community representation: Active participant in benefits related community initiatives, representing the interests of the company.
Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Professional benefits certification from a recognized professional or educational organization is preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of benefits experience; in-depth knowledge of benefit issues, trends and practices; strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
Ability to make good business judgments and provide guidance on priorities and technical implementation; and proven interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Requirements:
ERISA experience.
Compliance Reporting and legislation.
Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $69,700.00 to $97,000.00 per year
