JOB TITLE:

School Bus Driver/ Custodian

NATURE OF POSITION:

The Bus Driver Custodian is responsible for driving a school bus to safely transport students and authorized personnel, performing custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the district's buildings and grounds, and supporting special events with custodial tasks. This hybrid role includes typical bus driving responsibilities as well as custodial and event support tasks. The position requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the district's needs for both transportation and custodial services, including after-school, evening, and weekend events.

REPORTS TO:

Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Director and Transportation Director

QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent required.Valid Washington State Driver's license with a school bus endorsement.Previous custodial and/or maintenance experience preferred.Experience with operating and maintaining school buses and custodial equipment.Previous experience in event setup and custodial duties preferred.CPR and First Aid certification or willing to obtain.Successful completion of required background checks(WSP/FBI)PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely operate the school bus on scheduled routes and extracurricular trips.Ensure student safety, maintain order, and assist with boarding/disembarking, including for impaired students.Conduct bus inspections and maintain cleanliness, equipment, and safety protocols.Perform custodial duties (sweeping, mopping, dusting) in classrooms, common areas, and restrooms.Set up and maintain facilities for school and community events, including cleaning and stocking supplies.Provide custodial support during events, including trash removal and restroom care.Assist with event setup/cleanup and ensure facilities remain clean during and after events.Must be flexible with scheduling, including availability for some weekends.Help with grounds maintenance, including trash pickup, lawn mowing, and snow removal.Support event parking and traffic control as needed.Conduct safety checks on buildings and equipment.Assist with minor maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical).Operate custodial equipment and maintain supply inventory.Performs other related duties as assigned by director/s

Be able to perform job tasks as follows:Lift and carry 10-50 lbs. frequently.Assist with lifting 100 lbs. occasionally.Load and unload products from vehicles of various heights from 3-5 feet.Use push and pull methods to move products in the work area.Store products requiring arm extension, straight and overhead reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.Work from an awkward position to accomplish cleaning of equipment.Be on feet the majority of the work shift.Be of general good health.Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high.The employee will work near or with mechanical equipment

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

Reports to Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Director and Transportation Director.

LENGTH:

190 contract days (includes10 paid holidays)

SCHEDULE:

As determined by the Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds Director and Transportation Director. Flexibility is required, as the schedule can include some weekends.

SALARY:

As determined by the collective bargaining agreement.

EVALUATION:

Conducted by May 1st of each year by your immediate Supervisor.
