Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Fixed Asset Accountant is to ensure timely and accurate accounting for project costs and fixed assets. The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for financial aspects of capital expenditures including equipment, projects, and Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAOC).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
FIXED ASSET ACCOUNTINGTrack compilation of project costs into fixed asset accountsClose accounts upon completion of projects and reconcile balanceCalculate depreciation for fixed assetsTrack expenses for fixed assets compared to capital budgetWork with project leads to reconcile discrepanciesPrepare audit schedules for fixed assetsAssist with financial statements and Board reportsPrepare Monthly Capital ReportsCAPITAL BUDGET
Assists with reviewing annual capital budgets for accuracy and completenessMaintain capital work orders in the systemCompare actual to budgeted results and report variances with department managersOTHER ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS
Assist with documentation for FEMA claimsReconcile balance sheet accountsSPECIAL PROJECTS
Annual external financial audit, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial ReportBack up to the Sr. Plant Accountant as necessaryGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain regular attendance; leave schedule should be managed so as to not interfere with ability to accomplish tasks, including special projects and assignments with deadlinesAdhere to NBU safety guidelines and practices at all times and in all situationsMaintain a clean and safe work area, office, field site and vehicle as applicableMaintain strict confidentiality of business, employee and customer information in written and oral communications and safeguard sensitive documentsDevelop & maintain effective customer service skills for communications with co-workers, customers and the public in generalAdhere to NBU policies and proceduresExemplifies NBU Core Values of Integrity, Stewardship, Team and SafetyParticipate in and support initiatives to reach annual NBU Performance MeasuresFormal Education and Work Experience Requirements
Degree/Diploma Obtained: Bachelors
Work Experience Time Frame: One Year or More
Field of Study: Accounting
Other: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business-related field preferred. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plusKnowledge of work order management and fixed asset accounting preferredAbility to produce correspondence, reports, user-friendly spreadsheets, databases, and other documents that are accurate and clearly understoodStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines without close supervision
