Clinical Laboratory Program Advisor

to join the Division of Medical-Clinical Service, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.

This is a GRANT FUNDED position and is subject to available grant funds.Job Responsibilities

Serves as a liaison between the laboratory and the sentinel laboratories.Maintains a current contact list for all sentinel laboratories in the state of Georgia.Oversees the coordination of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) laboratory Preparedness Exercise (LPX) survey for the state of Georgia.Coordinates and develops an exercise notification plan for the sentinel laboratories.Coordinates site visits and maintains contact with the sentinel partners on a regular basis.Communicates current public health related updates to sentinel laboratory procedures with partners.Serves as the primary point of contact for Georgia hospital laboratories.Assists the laboratory training coordinator with Bioterrorism (BT) wet workshops, and packaging and shipping trainings.Maintains Select Agent clearance to work with BT agents.Maintains competency to work with the BT agents in an emergency event.Coordinate covid sample pickups from hospitals and health departments to laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

AND

Two years of experience performing work related to area of assignment

OR

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university

AND

Five years of experience performing work related to area of assignment

OR

One year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 2 (HCP091) or position equivalent.

Note: Some positions may require licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:Certification as a medical technologist, MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification.Experience in methods for training development, implementation, and evaluation.Experience coordinating hospital and/or public health laboratory responses to public health emergencies.Good verbal and written communication skills.NOTE:

The successful candidate for the position must undergo background check by the Department of Justice and get security clearance from the Department of Homeland Security.This position directly supports the GPHL's emergency response program and employees may be required to regularly work on various shifts, weekends and/or holidays as deemed necessary by the Georgia Public Health Laboratory.Overnight travel will be required.

Employment Information

All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency's primary worksite and be able to report to the office when required.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts Educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.

The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
