Key Responsibilities:
Medical Leadership: Conduct thorough examinations, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans tailored to each shelter animal's needs. Perform surgeries, with a focus on high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter procedures to directly contribute to our community's animal welfare.Comprehensive Animal Care: Provide preventive care, administer medications, and ensure the overall well-being of all shelter animals.Community Outreach & Public Health: Act as an advocate for public health by identifying and addressing potential risks related to shelter animals, while also promoting the importance of spay and neuter procedures through our affordable community programs.Operational Support: Maintain precise medical records, collaborate with staff on inventory management, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:Technical Aptitude: Demonstrate competency in surgical technique, disease recognition, euthanasia procedures, safety knowledge, and hazard identification.Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent communication skills displaying professionalism and tactfulness at all times.Licensing and Requirements: Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a valid South Dakota Veterinary License. Ability to be DEA Licenses.Physical Capabilities:
Animal Handling: Demonstrate capability for working with animals, veterinary supplies, and medicines.Physical Requirements: The role involves light to medium work, which may require regularly exerting up to 50 lbs. of force to lift or move objects.Work Environment: The work will mostly take place indoors, with some outside work and temperature changes involved. There may be noises from animals in the shelter environment.Benefits:
