Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Memorial Hospital Shiloh , a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.

Overview:
BJC HealthCare, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare organizations in the United States, is seeking a visionary and experienced leader to serve as the Director of Emergency Management and EMS. This dynamic role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of healthcare emergency preparedness plans and programs, as well as leading our EMS and Regional Healthcare Coalition efforts. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in emergency management and EMS leadership, and a passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and communities.
Key Responsibilities:Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of emergency preparedness drills and exercises to test and validate response capabilities.Oversee administrative direction of the Southwestern Illinois (SWIL) EMS system, ensuring high-quality pre-hospital care and seamless integration with hospital emergency services.Serve as a key leader and facilitator for the Regional Healthcare Coalition, fostering collaboration and coordination among member organizations.Manage the hospital's Emergency Communications Center (PBX) operations, ensuring efficient and effective communication during emergencies and daily operations.Orchestrates the execution of federal and state grant funds in support of strategic regional healthcare goals and objectives.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical departments, facilities management, local emergency response agencies, and regional healthcare partners, to ensure effective coordination and communication during emergencies.Provide expert guidance and support to hospital leadership and incident command teams during emergency situations.Lead a team of Emergency Management, EMS, and PBX professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence.Oversee the development and delivery of emergency preparedness training and education programs for staff, physicians, and volunteers.Monitor and analyze emerging threats, trends, and best practices in emergency management and EMS to inform strategy and drive program enhancements.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public health, EMS, or a related field; master's degree preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in emergency management or EMS, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.In-depth knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and regulations, including the Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Versed in quality assurance and improvement processes.Desired Qualifications:
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification.Experience in long range planning and strategic program development.Experience managing and leveraging emergency communication systems.Experience in grant writing, managing and executing state and federal funds.Familiarity with healthcare coalition building and regional emergency preparedness efforts.Proficient in the use of emergency management technologies and systems such as common operating pictures (COP).Why Join BJC HealthCare:
