Nature of Work
The position requires innovation, flexibility and the ability to work across healthcare systems. The psychiatrist or advanced practice provider will be based in the University of Colorado Hospital Emergency Department and will perform emergency psychiatry services.
Please note, this is an open rank position and could be categorized as Clinical Instructor, Clinical Senior Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.
Examples of Work Performed
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Assessing patients in crisis including relevant laboratory tests and imaging
Managing common emergency presentations including agitation and suicidal states
Developing brief, focused treatment plans
Prescribing medications
Determining appropriate level of care and disposition
Working with a team including Emergency Physicians, Behavioral Health Evaluators, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and security staff
Keeping abreast of the latest developments in field
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of Emergency Services and Department of Psychiatry
Supervision Exercised
This position will not supervise other employees.
Salary and Benefits:
Shifts are either 6 or 12 hours and are paid at the rate of $1000 per 6 hour shift or $2000 per 12 hour shift.

Clinical Instructor
: $2,000 per 12-hour shift
Clinical Senior Instructor:
$2,000 per 12-hour shift
Clinical Assistant Professor:
$2,000 per 12-hour shift

$2,000 per 12-hour shift
For the moonlighting hours worked. This is non-negotiable as it is a department standard rate.
This is a non-benefits eligible position.

Minimum Qualifications
Clinical Instructor:
1-3 years of clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: NP/APN, DO, MD, CO Physician License or Eligible for CO Physician License. Board Certified, Eligible, or Eligible by the time of hire in Psychiatry.
Clinical Senior Instructor:
1-3 years of clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: NP/APN, DO, MD, CO Physician License or Eligible for CO Physician License. Board Certified, Eligible, or Eligible by the time of hire in Psychiatry.
Clinical Assistant Professor:
