Job Description

Purpose

The Director, Engineering provides leadership and direction for all engineering resources and activities related to the facility and production equipment. The position partners with manufacturing and quality in the identification, definition, and execution of projects and delivers technical requirements for the launch of products and supports the development of innovative solutions to problems and opportunities.

Responsibilities

Executes a wide range of engineering disciplines including capital project engineering, validation engineering, instrumentation and controls engineering, manufacturing technical support, utility and energy engineering, CAD/Design services, facility and production maintenance.

Effectively leads multi-discipline teams supporting all activities at the site in a manner that provides innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet plant manufacturing goals.

Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and governance of the annual capital plans for Engineering and Maintenance budgets and strategic capacity plans for the site.

Communicates and collaborates with internal (manufacturing, quality, engineering, and other areas) and external partners to coordinate and execute project plans in line with site goals and objectives.

Develops engineering objectives and strategies that advance the site, and continually looks for opportunities for process optimization, cost avoidance and cost reduction.

Drives Key Performance Indicators across all areas of Engineering and excellence in project management. Delivers operationally robust solutions to ensure that all projects are executed safely on cost and on time, and in conformance with all compliance and safety standards, policies and regulations.

Negotiates, secures, oversees and ensures that all resources are available to meet the demands of the projects and site goals.

Reviews and approves technical documentation to verify compliance to technical specifications and standards.

Responsible for ensuring that all members of the Engineering team follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.

Provide leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring to direct reports. Continues engineer progression and development programs for the Engineering team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) is required to provide technical expertise.

10 + years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry

8 years Project Management experience required. Project accounting experience is necessary to understand overall project planning and execution and financial aspects of executing large capital projects.

4 - 6 years Supervisory / Management experience with budget responsibility.

Knowledge of AbbVie Engineering standards.

Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.

Strong problem solving abilities.

Proven track record of managing projects through to completion.

Excellent Communication Skills with all layers of management.

Key Stakeholders

Operations, Quality, EHS, Technical Services, Materials.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
