As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled Staff Product Compliance Engineer with expertise in test standards and regulations including UL, CSA and IEEE, to ensure our products meet stringent regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
Independently lead UL, CSA, IEEE standards test planning and execution throughout pre-compliance, design phases and design iterations across Generac Clean Energy products
Engage with NRTLs to drive compliance programs.
Translate global standards requirements to test setup design requirements.
Utilize first principles thinking to drive engineering judgements with NRTL’s/AHJ’s navigating regulatory hurdles.
Define and execute the infrastructure build out for the Compliance Laboratory such as electrical power, test equipment, safety features, building temperature and humidity controls, etc.
Debug failures and drive design solutions in collaboration with engineering design teams
Execute testing within ISO 17025 test facility requirements.
Lead internal and external compliance design reviews and FMEA activities.
Define a library of common Compliance Test Procedures and associated automation scripts to standardize and optimize their execution.
Qualifications:
Minimum BSEE. MS or PhD preferred.
6+ years of hands-on compliance design and testing experience
Thorough understanding of Distributed energy systems standards including UL 9540, UL 1741, UL 1973, UL 916, UL 67, UL 869A, UL 414, UL 2735, UL 1741 SB, UL 1741 PCS, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030.5, etc.
Experience working with NRTLs to obtain product certifications.
Familiarity operating lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Power Analyzers, Multimeters, Function generators, Regenerative AC/DC supplies, Dielectric Voltage Tester, and Environmental chambers.
Preferred Qualification
Strong problem-solving skills related to test set up and design debug.
In-depth understanding of power converters and power systems
Experience creating and validating test set ups from scratch according to global standards.
Ability to collaborate and communicate test results cross functionally.
Programming knowledge to develop automated test suites.
Physical Demands
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
