PurposeContributes to the overall success of the Mainframe & Db2 Database Services in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.Accountabilities
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.partner with solution architects, application developers, and support teams. Support application releases, Db infrastructure, answer all developer questions, release manager, production deliveries.Provide Db2 Administrative services to application development team.Design/develop/test/support Db2 LUW database.Plan, design, develop, test, and support database systems.Perform regular database work and maintenance, such as storage management, import, export, load, access control, etc.Provide technical analysis and recommendations.System performance tuning and trouble shooting.SQL performance tuning.Scripting daily tasks.Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.Reporting Relationships

Team of ~25 engineersCanadaCapital budget & annual project cost30+ projects / 100+ systemsEducation / Experience / Other InformationBachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering.Must-to-have:1) 3+ years of technical working experience as a Db2 LUW DBA supporting development/QA/non-functional testing/production environments within the Financial Industries.2) 5 + years Hands on Experience of Db2 HADR (High availability disaster recovery)3) 5 + years SQL Program Language Experience – as team also does development work4) Strong communication skills5) Excellent Presentation Skills – able to translate technical standards/practices to customer.6) Desire to keep up with new technology innovations7) Team player8) Excellent problem debugging and resolving skills9) English level required (B1+ - B2)# LI - Hybrid
