SUMMARY:

The Area Director of Sales-SMERF Markets will be responsible for leading, managing, driving, and developing new business opportunities across the M&R Hotel portfolio to maximize segment revenues and customer growth. This is a key sales leadership role within our organization, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about sales and building customer relationships that stand out above the competition. You will work minimum supervision while cooperatively working with others, you are a self-starter who works calmly under pressure and deadlines, and follows all company policies, procedures, and rules of general conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Initiate the direct sales process by fully canvassing all sub-segments with SMERF markets (Social military, educational, entertainment, religious and fraternal) to cultivate Group and Transient business opportunities.Establish and execute a monthly, quarterly, and annual business plan for review and approval by the Vice President of Sales & marketing.Schedule appointments, make presentations, and conduct client hotel site tours.Collaborate with property General Managers to communicate and overcome client objections.Participate in weekly Resume & BEO meetings to effectively communicate the client's needs and expectations and ensure accuracy of information shared with each department head.Attend booked events to ensure the quality of products and services are delivered as expected.Conduct courtesy calls for each departed event to ensure needs were met and to rebook the event or other events for future dates.Attend trade shows, local chamber events, mixers, and other networking events to generate new leads and contacts.Maintain and grow a current database of schools, churches, sports, social and military association business contacts to augment future mailings and promotions.Travel is required to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.You may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as business dictates.Each associate will be required to follow the rules as found in the M&R Employee HandbookPerform other duties as assigned by management, of which employee is capable of performing.REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3-5 years SMERF sales experience.Proven record of accomplishment in exceeding production goalsCurrent and qualified list of customersAble to develop sales plans with measurable results.Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, have a polished and professional demeanorExperience with Lanyon, Salesforce and Delphi is preferredThis is an on-site position in New York, NY.
