JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Senior Accountant is to assist with monthly closing procedures including
prepaids, accruals and fixed assets, as well as various account reconciliations. Additional functions include analyzing financial performance, investigating trends/variances, and assisting with financial forecasts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Bank reconciliations and associated journal entries.
2. Track fixed assets including recording additions, disposals and monthly depreciation.
3. Prepare and file sales and use tax reports for necessary states.
4. Prepare and file payroll taxes and reports for necessary states.
5. Record and pay property tax for necessary states.
6. Print and file all month end reports for binders.
7. Prepare payroll distribution entries.
8. Monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
9. Track and prepare entries for accruals and prepaids.
10. Various journal entries.
11. Analyze current and past financial data and performance.
12. Identify trends in perfomance and provide recommendations for improvement.
13. Analyze actual results against business plan and prepare analysis as required.
14. Develop a detailed understanding of business processes, looking for both control gaps and opportunities to gain process efficiency.
15. Illustrate financial trends with charts and graphs.
16. Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and comprehend English instructions and information. Bachelors degree in accounting.
Minimum one year experience in accounting. Working knowledge of Excel and other accounting programs. Must have a professional personal appearance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
You may be required lifting up to 35 pounds. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. You may be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The other part of this position will require desk work, including use of computer monitor, telephone and completing paperwork.
