Principal Data Engineer

General Description: This key role will be responsible for the infrastructure and operations of DSDI’s data storage solutions, third-party integrations data provisioning services and overall ETL/ELT code-based solutions and tooling that process data.
Essential Functions of the job:
Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills (English) to accurately interpret and collaborate with data scientists, statistical programmers, clinical data managers, business analysts, and IT teams.
Expectation to work in a global setting across time zones and atypical business hours.
Strong willingness to learn, collaborate, communicate, document, and grow data product focused development standards.
Fosters a strong level of sharing, communication and developer-focused mentorship.
Ability to document and explain data processes clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficient Programming Experience in Python,
Capable of designing and implementing robust ETL/ELT pipelines using custom-tooling (Python/Databricks) and off-the shelf tooling (Airbyte, Informatica) with focus on monitoring, supportability, and resource stewardship.
Development of complex SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting and transformation technologies (e.g. dbtCore).
Experience with general SDLC best practices, devops (CI/CD) and version control.
Familiarity with Data Orchestration (DAG), Workflow Tools (Informatica Cloud, Airbyte).
Experience with Database Design and Query Optimization for responsive web applications.
Preferred
Experience working with Clinical Data and Regulatory Governance in a Pharma Industry Setting
Hands-on design and configuration experience with cloud services AWS, Azure (related to data storage and processing)
Data Governance Principals and enterprise frameworks (Warehousing, Data-as-a-Product, MESH, MDM).
Fluent in Mandarin (both conversational and written).

Bachelors degree, in Computer Science or Information Technology, or a related field and 5+ years related experience.
