The Labor Relations Manager manages the relationship between the Hotel and the Union. The Manager will act as the liaison between Managers and the Union Agents focusing on dispute resolution and contract interpretation. The Manager will, in coordination with Human Resources and Hotel Leadership, conduct and advise on investigations and grievances as well as strategize on operational goals. This position reports directly to the Area Director of Human Resources, indirectly to Corporate Labor Relations Director. The salary for this position is $70,600 to $88,100.This position will focus on two (2) properties in Honolulu, HIESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the daily administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Educate managers and supervisors on the effects of historical work practices as well as actions that impact work practices.Develop and conduct union contract training for managers and supervisors.Work with Corporate Labor Relations with respect to contract interpretation and arbitrations.Develop and maintain on-going lists of management initiatives and proposals for future contract negotiations.Educate and guide managers and supervisors through the grievance process and on contract interpretation.Represent the Hotel and act as the spokesperson at grievance and mediation hearings. Also represent the hotel at labor negotiationsActively support managers and supervisors in the investigation of grievances with a focus on proactively resolving them internally.Manage and evaluate the financial impact of labor practices and give appropriate recommendations to senior management.Maintain grievance log and prepare statistical reports.Develop and maintain professional working relationship with the Union.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTSGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university.Three or more years of progressive experience in Human Resources with an emphasis on labor relations.Considerable knowledge of current trends and practices of labor relations.Skilled in traditional labor negotiations and collective bargaining procedures.Able to negotiate agreements and/or reach consensus with diverse and disparateinterests: experience in drafting and writing contract language and Side Letters.Skilled in effective, clear and persuasive oral and written communications to individuals and groups.Skilled in resolving conflicts and gaining cooperation among competing interest groups.Ability to provide leadership and counsel to Managers, Supervisors and Colleagues.Skilled in researching complex issues and developing recommended actions.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
