How a Unified Communications Engineer will make an impact:
A Unified Communications (UC) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise UC solutions for an organization. The UC Engineer must have a strong understanding of various UC technologies, such as VoIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, presence, and collaboration tools like Call Managers, Session Border Controllers, and virtualization.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement UC solutions to meet business requirements and align with the organization's technology strategy.
Perform network assessments and provide recommendations for improving UC performance and reliability.
Configure and manage UC devices, such as IP phones, video conferencing systems, and collaboration endpoints.
Work with vendors and service providers to ensure optimal UC performance and reliability.
Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate UC solutions with other systems, such as Active Directory, Exchange, and various enterprise technologies.
Provide technical support and troubleshoot UC issues.
Develop and maintain UC documentation, such as network diagrams, device configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Stay current with new UC technologies and industry trends.
Manage virtual machines using industry standard virtualization tools, including creating, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines, and managing virtual machine storage and networking.
Implement and maintain security measures to protect UC solutions from threats such as malware, viruses, and unauthorized access.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Certifications in UC technologies, such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration
8+ years of IT related experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in UC engineering.
Strong understanding of UC protocols, such as SIP, H.323, and RTP.
Experience with Unified Communication solutions.
Experience with network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with virtual machine management using industry standard virtualization platforms.
Knowledge of security best practices, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Security clearance: Current TS/SCI

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
