The Social Media & Marketing Intern will work alongside full-time Championship Staff on all aspects of the marketing efforts for the only PGA TOUR-sanctioned event in Kansas City. This position will also include experience in sales initiatives, sponsorship fulfillment, operations, and overall event execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, be creative and detail oriented, have the ability to work independently on multiple projects, and a willingness to go above and beyond for tournament stakeholders. This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports marketing, social media, or related field.

Marketing Internship

Social Media

Plan, create, and execute on-brand, detailed social media calendar with various departments in mind (sales, sponsorship, events, community, volunteers) in regards to each platform (instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn)Work closely with videographer and photography team to create detailed tournament week social media plan, to create/execute/post time-sensitive content in fast-paced settingIdentify potential new social media trends/content to incorporate and/or other opportunities for new engagementTrack engagement and growth for all social platforms

Marketing

Work closely with Championship Staff to:

Identify marketing initiatives re: ticket sales, events, etcPlan, create content, and execute Championship email communicationsAssist with website updates and maintenance as neededWrite and edit press releases, stories and website copy as needed

Design

Create/update social media content, sales & marketing materials, event promotional pieces, tickets/credentialsAssist with sponsor signage as needed

Skills/traits needed:

Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & Canva are a must, experience with graphic design, video editing is preferred. Must be detail oriented, ability to think outside the box, and be creative.Application Information:

If internship is part of college curriculum/class credit, the internship will be unpaid. Otherwise, internship will be paid pursuant to applicable Missouri minimum wage and overtime requirements.Internship timeframe: Mid-January (flexible depending on availability) through May 30, 2025.Hours: For the first month or two, 20-30 hours per week, then increased hours thereafter with a full workload in the last four weeks leading up to the event.
