Overview:
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Occupational Health RN is responsible for providing direct care to employees and other personnel who become ill and/or are injured on company property. Performs nursing assessments and assists occupational health providers with employment and surveillance examinations. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patients care.Accurately and promptly implements providers orders.Observes and supports all UnityPoint Health and company-specific policies and protocols.Assists in case management initiation and follow-up.Functions independently in a single-nurse-staffed clinic.Delivers high quality care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required in assigned unit/dept./area in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.Utilizes holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgements; maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.Assists in all areas and aspects of the Occupational Health clinic as requested by Director of Occupational Health and Employee Health.
Qualifications:Minimum RequirementsIdentify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.Preferred or SpecializedNot required to perform the essential functions of the position.Education:
Graduate of accredited nursing program (Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire)Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree in NursingExperience:3 years of nursing experienceOne (1) year of outpatient clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.Prior Occupational Health nursing experience
License(s)/Certification(s):Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within three (3) months from date of hire.Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.Obtain and maintain National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approved spirometry.Obtain and maintain Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certification.Obtain and maintain certification in Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol Testing/Screening.
