About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriting Senior Manager as part of the National Underwriting Team within Auto Originations. This leader will be responsible for managing a large team of underwriting professionals that support our auto lending quality, productivity, and service standards for Indirect underwriting decisions. Leader must possess strong auto business acumen with ability to balance business growth and efficiency with managing risks within Wells Fargo’s risk appetite while supporting an outstanding customer experience.

In this role, you will:

Build high-performing underwriting teams that drive business results through effective leadership and team member engagement.

Review lending decisions for adherence to established guidelines and ensure conformity to credit policies and procedures

Utilize strong credit acumen and data analytics to make recommendations

Identify opportunities for development and improvement in the team functions

Monitor and review underwriting and portfolio performance

Make decisions and resolve issues related to business operations

Work across the organization to collaborate to improve efficiency and resolve credit issues

Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Underwriting

Review and recommend credit decisions exceeding assigned staff lending limits as needed

Required Qualifications, US:

6+ years of Underwriting experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

3+ years of Management experience

Desired Qualifications:

Extensive experience in Indirect auto lending with a large financial institution, Captive lending experience a plus

Knowledge and understanding of auto lending practices, policies, and procedures

Experience leading the development and execution of underwriting programs and initiatives enterprise-wide

Strong Auto finance risk management experience

Strong analytical skills to include strategically analyzing data, diagnosing opportunities, and providing solutions and recommendations.

Knowledge and understanding of issues or change management processes

Virtual leadership experience with the ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment

Experience identifying, presenting, and implementing processes/operations enhancements while maintaining a culture of operational excellence

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Job Expectations:

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

This position offers a hybrid work schedule
