Regional Public Health Nurse

for the Division of Public Health. Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Public Health Nurse, the Regional Public Health Nurse will provide investigation and case management of all assigned reportable diseases within the city of Worcester and three Alliance towns of the Central MA Regional Public Health Alliance (CMRPHA). This includes infectious disease case management and contact training as well as specialized case management for tuberculosis (TB) patients. This position will work with community partner organizations and agencies to coordinate the care of patients and do so in a culturally competent manner. Additionally, the role includes the investigation of foodborne illness complaints, blood pressure clinics and supporting mass dispensing operations. The position requires the use of the Massachusetts Epidemiological Virtual Network (MAVEN) and the Massachusetts Immunization Information System (MIIS).ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:Responsible for the investigation and case management of any assigned reportable diseasesInvestigate foodborne illness complaintsResponsible for the coverage of blood pressure screening clinics in Alliance towns as neededSpecialized case management of TB patientsCollaborate with partner organizations and agencies to coordinate the care of TB patientsAssist with the operation of seasonal flu clinics and other mass dispensing needsRespond to unexpected day-to-day tasks related to public health.Travel frequently within the alliance communities of Shrewsbury, Grafton, West Boylston and Worcester; travel to other communities, as neededPerform all other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Familiarity with the MAVENFamiliarity with MIISFamiliarity with Massachusetts General Laws as related to communicable disease investigation, surveillance and quarantineDemonstrate cultural competence working with diverse ethnicities, cultures, and socioeconomic groupsGood organizational skills with the ability to develop timelines, meet deliverables and be autonomousExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to analyze problems, provide alternatives, and identify solutions in support of established goals and projectsAbility to make formal presentations to large groupsAbility to prepare written reports.Ability to remain flexible to perform unexpected day-to-day tasks related to public healthProficient with Microsoft Office Suite

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)Two (2) years of professional experience as a nurseExcellent communication skillsValid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Skilled Nursing (BSN)Three (3) years of professional experience as a nurseTwo (2) years of experience as a Public Health Nurse

SALARY RANGE:
